The photo reference for this painting comes from my friends garden. The red cabbages were beautiful with all their leaves intact just before harvest in late November. I loved painting all the various shades of blue-violets and red-violets..the intricacy of the veins on the leaves contribute detail and interest to a fairly complex composition.
