I was born and raised in Wisconsin and earned a BA in Communications with an emphasis in film from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I received my first camera as a graduation present and have been shooting ever since. My travels through the United States, Europe, and the Middle East have shaped how I visually see and interpret the world.
I find beauty everywhere I look be it the Ancient City of Rome, a flower, or a piece of rusted metal. This particular series was taken of weathered vehicles discarded and left to their demise. The elements of time, rain, sun and snow created patterns and ideas that can be left up to the viewer to interpret. My objective was to capture artistry in what others have discarded and present it in a beautiful way. If we all take a moment to look around our surroundings we can see art in everything. I discovered my art in a junkyard.
I utilize a variety of photographic techniques ranging from early cameraless methods to the modern day of digital. All images are available in limited editions of 20 with a total of 5 artist proofs. The Ruggine Series photographs are individually printed on silver halide photographic professional crystal archival paper and are signed and numbered in pencil. |
