Wobbly legged twin moose are taking their first steps in this world. One summer I was walking along the shore of Lake McDonald in Glacier National Park where I worked. Suddenly I had the sensation of being watched. Not 20 feet from me, standing at the edge of the woods was a moose and her calf. I was awed by her beauty and that of the calf. As calmly as I could muster, I told her so without looking either of them in the eye. I backed away, and as soon as I was out of their sight I turned and ran all the way back to the lodge! Truly massive, beautiful creatures, even if they do seem to be made up of leftover parts!
