Moon Shadow has indeed been a long time in production. This piece was begun in 2009 using remnants from another artwork but expanding the scale of the work into a larger piece. Other work and commissions seemed to always take precedence and I just wasn’t sure how to bring it all together. The white and blue moons were design elements from the start and I would move them around the artwork from time to time. The addition of the river didn’t come about until October of 2014. The textural hand stitching design came to the forefront in December of 2014 and from then until Mid-March of 2015, this was the project that took over a good portion of my studio time. Detail images of the dense, textural stitching can be seen in the two additional images. This textile wall artwork is intended to be hung in either a vertical or horizontal orientation; which gives it many different appearances and keeps the work fresh for collectors and viewers. The back of the artwork shows the incorporated hanging system that just needs the accompanying wood slat inserted and it is ready to hang from any gallery system or with just two nails. The detail image showing the stitching on the back of the quilt can be seen here too. Purchased artwork is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist.
