I live in the Midwest township of Hampshire, Illinois. This farm land region, fifty miles west of Chicago, has been my home for over forty years. My husband and I own acreage in rural Hampshire. We have granted a conservation easement on our property which prohibits any future development. As members of The Conservation Foundation and The Wild Ones, we are deeply committed to the preservation of open space. Tall grass prairies, rivers, wetlands, and oak savannahs figure strongly in my art. I paint what I see every day, the character of the Illinois countryside. I don’t travel because there is so much material to paint right here where I live. Sadly, my subject matter seems to diminish by the year. Large farms and some natural open space are developed and paved over. Perhaps this is unavoidable, but I believe these special areas will live a while longer in my paintings. They are my portraits of the heartland.

I am a representational impressionist, painting entirely in oils. My subjects are the open spaces, farmland, oak hickory savannas, wetlands, fens, rivers, lakes, and tall grass prairies of my home.
